Frequently Asked Questions

Who is responsible for organizing this event?
The AuBuchon Family (George, Charlie, Jenny, and Brad) began the Annual Vernon Hills Walk for Brain Tumor Research in early 1999, with the 1st Annual Walk taking place on May 13, 1999.  The Walk, a fundraising event, is held in the memory of Cathy Lundstrom and Mary Jo Milligan.  Proceeds will benefit brain tumor research through the American Brain Tumor Association.  Thanks to the funds raised at the 1st and 2nd annual Walk, the American Brain Tumor Association has established a $ 60,000.00 brain tumor research fellowship in memory of Cathy and Mary Jo.

How do I sign up to attend?
Please click on the "register now" button in order to download a printable registration form, or, call the AuBuchons at (847) 367-4315.  If we receive your registration form (along with a suggested entry fee) by May 1st, you'll be guaranteed a commemorative T-shirt.   On-site registration and late entries are welcome, however, T-shirts will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  If you forget to mail your registration form, don't worry -- you can always just show up and register on the day of the event!

Do you need any additional volunteers?
There is much work to be done to organize an event such as this.  If you'd like to volunteer, please send an email to the George and Charlie AuBuchon and ask for further information.

What about any weather conditions?
The Annual Vernon Hills Walk for Brain Tumor Research is held regardless of weather conditions, rain or shine!  Bring an umbrella and some warm clothing!   (You can check the latest and extended Vernon Hills weather forecast by clicking the link to the left.)

How do I get there, what time, etc?
Please visit our "When & Where" link to the left.  This page includes all the location, date, and time information, as well as a handy map of the area.  Parking is available in both the main parking lot and the church parking lot.   Vernon Hills Police will be on-hand to facilitate parking.

What should I bring?
At this time of the year, mornings can still be a bit chilly and windy, so please bring appropriate clothing.  Strollers and/or wagons for the children work out great.  Water is available at the conclusion of the walk.  Bring a camera!   There's lots of great pictures to take!

The Walk Route
The general walk route is approximately 2 miles, however, there is a shorter route available for those who wish to begin the Walk with the main group, but are unable to walk the full route.  There is also plenty of fun available at the finish line to welcome the participants back!!!
